Like i said, I'm not interested in serious recording at this point and so audio accuracy is not critical.
I have a pretty decent pc: Athlon64 3200+, 1gb of ram, and about 800 gb of HD space. All you would need to get would be a MIDI controller. There are some pretty good soundfonts out there and also some good free soundfont sites.
